Christmastime spells time to replace the old calendar. Tanaka decided to give the humble calendar a grand makeover. In 2008, he released the stunning gold calendar. There was nothing flimsy about this 2008 calendar, for the 42 cm x 62 cm calendar weighed six whole kilograms. Moreover, the other side of the calendar bore a traditional Japanese painting. So the calendar could grace your walls long after 2008 was gone.

In 2007, Tanaka unveiled his famous gold swimsuit, one that took 32 days to create. The gold weave swimsuit was created using extra-fine gold thread measuring 90 microns. We have seen costlier matchbox cars, but if you are looking for a mini replica of a vintage car, Ginza Tanaka has a great option. Make way for a platinum replica of the 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z432. Priced at $80,000, this toy car is probably one of the most expensive things that money can buy. However, the last we checked, this platinum car replica was not for sale. 9. Most Expensive Beer Mug

Price: $50,000
Ginza Tanaka’s Midas touch is well known. The Japanese jeweler creates stunning products using the expensive yellow metal. Tanaka’s love affair with gold is so strong that the designer even came up with the most expensive beer mug in 2009. This beer mug is crafted out of 850 grams of 24-karat solid gold. The idea behind the solid gold beer mug is that everything tastes better when consumed from a gold vessel. But is the improvement in taste worth the $50,000 asking price?

10. Most Expensive Mickey Mouse

Price: $31,000
If the most expensive things in the world are on your radar, train your sights on this gold Mickey Mouse as well. Few toys are as grand as this figure of Mickey Mouse ready to shout, “Action!” Tanaka built this 12-centimeter-tall Mickey Mouse sculpture out of 1 kilogram of solid gold. The figurine was not for sale back in 2008. Rather, it was designed to promote Disney’s “National Treasure-2″ ahead of its release. We love the detailing sense of movement on this sculpture of the famous Disney mouse.

This is but a taste of all the luxurious offerings that the Japanese jeweler has to offer. Tanaka signature style blends art and luxury in an almost effortless way.
