New Year Resolutions

NEW YEAR RESOLUTION

the time to make resolutions is here! But most of us do vow to do a
whole lot of things but fail to stick to it. Here are five most often
 forgotten resolutions.

Get out of debt and save money: We all wish to save money and m
ake investments the right way but this can happen only when we plan
our finances well and get out of debt. With unemployment and recession,
many people are not able to follow what they have decided to do.
But one way to stick to it is by making attainable rules. Strictly allow
yourself to eat out once a week and carry lunch to work most days.
Allot not more than a certain amount of money for shopping and vow
not to go beyond that amount. This will help you keep at least some
spare money that can be deposited in the bank.
Eat healthy, lose weight and get fit: This one's one of the most
common and popular new year resolutions. After a season
of holidays and full-fledged partying, it's very natural that a vow
to eat healthy, lose weight and get fit would follow. January is the
time when we promise ourselves to swap eggs and burgers with
oats and fruits. It all seems easy-to-follow till the first one or two
weeks in January, but what after that? The problem starts when
we force ourselves to go on a strict diet instead of eating everything
in moderation. Since we completely stop eating certain things,
it becomes difficult to follow the diet plan for long. Also, a lot
of fitness clubs offer deals and promotions in January to encourage
people who wish to lose weight. These offers do tempt people to
take memberships in gyms and dance classes but not to continue
their fitness regime. After the festive season and all the fun,
we tend to become all the more lazy!
Quit smoking and drink less: Yes, we should certainly quit
smoking and what better time than now. After all, smoking does
no benefit. It simply yellows our teeth, harms our lungs and
irritates the non-smokers around us. But recent survey says
that only 15% of people who try to quit smoking manage to
stay cigarette-free six months later. Though there are many
things that help us stay away from cigarettes, most of us find
it difficult to control that urge to smoke. It is very easy to promise
ourselves not to drink or smoke but the question is whether that
resolve will last for the other 364 days of the year.
Spend more time with family: With hectic schedules, this promise is
hard to keep. We may decide that everyday we'll be back home latest
by 8 pm and spend the remaining time with kids and we even try to do
it for some days. But soon we realise that work doesn't disappear just
because we have promised ourselves to go home early. Somehow it
doesn't work out.
Travel to see new places: A new year is the time to explore new
opportunities and places. Travel is on almost everyone's agenda.
Take that road trip or hot-air balloon ride, go on your first ocean
cruise and what not. But once the partying gets over and we are
back to work, we realise that we may not get adequate leaves or
maybe our budget is too tight. There are so many other issues and
the plan to travel and see the world becomes a huge flop show.
